The City of Morden is again inviting residents to gather at Lake Minnewasta for some fall family fun.
The second Fall Festival will run from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the lake.
“We want to make this an annual event,” said co-ordinator Trisha Hoeppner, admitting she has a bit of a personal motivation for having introduced this as a new city celebration. “I have a love for fall and being outside, and I think that the lake is such a wonderful part of Morden, and it would be a good way to have some family fun down at the lake.”
A highlight will be a hot dog eating competition sponsored by Winkler Meats and Gardenland Co-op with a grand prize package from McMunn and Yates that features a PitBoss 440 mahogany pellet smoker.
“It has a combined value of $830, so it’s a really great grand prize,” said Hoeppner, who noted that competition gets underway at 1:30 p.m.
Another feature will be the Prairie Wildlife Education Centre making a pair of hour-long presentations with four animals. The first session begins at 3 p.m. followed by the second at 4:30 p.m.
Food trucks will be on hand including 2 Bro’zz, Holy Guacamole, Potoba, Dexters Mini Donuts and More and Swirl n’ Twirl Cotton Candy.
Other activities will include barrel train rides, face painting, inflatables, a wall climb, jousting arena, human hamster ball races, an obstacle course, axe throwing and a straw bale maze.
“We wanted to have something for everyone and all ages,” said Hoeppner.
