Normally, the councils for the Town of Arborg and the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton get along so well. But something went down last week that sheared a strip off their close relationship, and now they want their followers to choose sides.
Chad Johnson, the deputy reeve of the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton, and Ron Johnston, the deputy mayor of the Town of Arborg, have thrown down the scissors and are – to use the words of administration staff for both municipalities – “going for bald” at the upcoming Terry Fox Run this Sunday in Arborg.
Johnson and Johnston are inviting the public to make a donation to the Terry Fox Foundation in their respective municipalities’ name. Whichever municipality collects the most money wins, and their respective deputy will undergo a public head shave this Sunday at the Arborg-Bifrost Fire Hall, which is serving as headquarters for the run.
People can make donations at the Town of Arborg administration office and the Bifrost-Riverton administration office, which are next door to each other on River Road in Arborg.
The Arborg CIBC, the Arborg Access Credit Union and the Riverton Credit Union are also accepting donations on behalf of the deputies and their municipalities.
All proceeds raised will go the Terry Fox Foundation.
