Morden-Winkler marked the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with a gathering at the Access Event Centre Sept. 30. Organized jointly by the Pembina Valley Truth and Action Working Group and Genesis House, the day included the raising of the Every Child Matters flag recognizing the victims of Canada’s residential school system, drumming from local Indigenous performers, a memorial walk with a sea of orange-clad participants, displays of the Pembina Valley REDress Project in memory of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and the sharing of bannock after the walk.
