Fishermen get early bye week after shutout win in home opener

The Selkirk Fishermen were the lone Capital Region Junior Hockey League team not to play during Week 2 of the regular season.

The Fishermen had no games scheduled last week following a 4-0 victory over the Arborg Ice Dawgs in their season opener Sept. 28 at Selkirk Recreation Complex.

Selkirk’s Izzy Aime led the way in the win with two second-period goals, while Ashton Schroeder and Dawson Bergagnini rounded out the scoring. Goaltender Johnny Enns-Demchuk earned the 25-save shutout.

While the other six CRJHL clubs saw action last week, the Fishermen enjoyed a brief break ahead of their next game — a rematch with the Ice Dawgs this Friday in Arborg.

Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Arborg & District Arena.
