Eriksdale Cookie Caper raises $3,000 for E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital

Date:

The E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital Guild hosted its first Cookie Caper on Nov. 22, pairing the fundraiser with photos with Santa, a silent auction and an afternoon tea with homemade dainties.

The event raised more than $3,000 to support guild initiatives. Guild president Donna Pool said she was proud to revive a pre-COVID tradition once organized by earlier community groups.

“The guild resurrected it as it was such a big hit in the past,” she said. “It was also wonderful seeing members of our community socializing and enjoying the fruits of our labour.”

More than 3,500 cookies — baked by guild members, community volunteers and supporters — were available for purchase. Attendees spent the afternoon visiting, browsing Christmas goodies and supporting the hospital.

Pool added that the guild is preparing for upgrades at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital.

“Plans are underway to renovate the emergency room, as mandated by the provincial government,” she said. “It is our intent to provide funds for enhanced services in our hospital.”
