There’s never been a better time to help our community flourish forever! Westshore Community Foundation encourage residents of along the west shore of Lake Winnipeg from Dunnottar to Riverton to make a gift between Nov. 13 – 19 as part of the 2023 Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge. For this week only, each $5 gift you make becomes $7.
The Winnipeg Foundation will stretch each $5 gift made to Westshore Community Foundation with a $1. The Manitoba government also continues their commitment to Manitoba community foundations with their support of the 2023 Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge by contributing $1 for every $5 gift. The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government will each provide a maximum stretch of $2,000 per foundation. Westshore Community Foundation can receive up to $4,000 in stretch funding.
Online gifts can be made securely through endowMB.org. Gifts can also be made by cheque payable to Westshore Community Foundation and mailed to Westshore Community Foundation, Box 395, Gimli, Manitoba R0C 1B0.

Icelandic River Community Foundation celebrating 15 years of giving
The Icelandic River Community Foundation is also encouraging people in the Arborg, Bifrost and Riverton areas of the upcoming Giving Challenge week. Every year during the week of National Philanthropy Day (Nov. 15) Manitoba foundations conduct a Giving Challenge week (Nov. 13 to Nov. 19) and for every ten dollars donated to the foundation’s general funds Endow Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba each throw in another $2 bringing the value of the donation to a value of $14.
Icelandic River Community Foundation chair Larry Speiss, said as of the 15th of October of this year the local foundation is marking its fifteenth year since it was incorporated. The foundation has supported various organizations and funded different organizations and projects within the Arborg, Riverton and Bifrost communities.
“To continue we need the help of the public and their generous donations,” said Speiss.
We are asking the public to visit our website for the Icelandic River Community Foundation (https://ircf.ca/) and choose to give a donation to unrestricted / general funds or to Endow Manitoba’s web page (endowMB.org) and choose the Icelandic River Community Foundation assist our challenge. Should people want to get more information and/or donate in person Icelandic River Community foundation volunteers will be at the Riverton Coop on Wednesday, Nov. 15 and at the Interlake Co-op Grocery in Arborg on Thursday, Nov. 16. Speiss also reminds readers, “that donations are accepted year round but during this week there is more bang to your buck. To all of our donors we give our heartfelt thanks.”
