Construction on Carman Collegiate’s roof will begin in July, with repairs lasting until February 2026.
The entire roof is being replaced as the existing one has reached the end of its life expectancy. Kevin Clace, Prairie Rose School Division superintendent said the repairs are essential and the multimillion-dollar project – which includes upgrading the HVAC system – has been funded by the Province of Manitoba’s Department of Public Service Delivery- Capital Project Planning and Delivery Division and will be completed by Whitechurch Construction.
During construction, select classrooms and office areas must be cleared, and school staff are reorganizing to ensure their items are removed. Clace added come September, he expects there to be minimal impact to student learning with most indoor repairs being scheduled during summer break.
“This is a positive development for Carman Collegiate, and a demonstration of the province’s ongoing commitment to renewing aging infrastructure and supporting safe, modern, and effective learning environments for Manitoba students,” said Clace.
