Great Big Sea’s Sean McCann, Beach Boy restaurant raise $3,120 for Evergreen Basic Needs

Date:

Sean McCann, one of the founders of the Canadian Celtic folk-rock band Great Big Sea, donated $2,320 to Evergreen Basic Needs after a solo performance at the Pavilion in Gimli Park on May 27, said Allan Sulyma, the RM of Gimli’s tourism coordinator who helped organize the show.

McCann’s Great Big Canadian Road Trip is taking him across Canada to small communities.

The singer-songwriter decided to donate 50 per cent of his Gimli concert sales to EBN to help it cope with a rising demand for food assistance as the cost of living continues to put undue pressure on many families and individuals.

Beach Boy Restaurant also got into the act, donating $2 to EBN from each burger sold and raising $800 in total for the food bank.
