Stonewall council news in brief

Date:

• Stonewall council gave first reading to a bylaw to regulate the proceedings and conduct of council and committees.

• Council also gave first reading to a bylaw to regulate traffic.

• The CAO will sign a snow removal agreement between the Town of Stonewall and the Province of Manitoba. 

• Council approved a proposal from LM Architectural Group Environmental Space Planning for consulting services for the renovation of town hall at a cost of $38,000 plus taxes and applicable fees.

• The Festival of Lights Santa Claus Parade will take place on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., sponsored by the Stonewall and District Chamber of Commerce.

• The Stonewall Kinsmen and Stonewall legion branch will host their annual Breakfast with Santa event on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. Santa will be there from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5 per plate, and wee ones age five and under are free.

• A few spots are left to sign up for the Town of Stonewall’s FoodCycler in-home waste diversion pilot project. More information is available on the Town of Stonewall website at www.stonewall.ca. The registration deadline is Dec. 1. 

• The Town of Stonewall flew the Métis flag at town hall on Nov. 16 in commemoration of the anniversary of Louis Riel’s execution.
