Selkirk Red River Métis Local welcomes new executive team

Date:

Congratulations to Jesse Vogen, Brad Hirst, Dyana Lavallee, and Kyra De La Ronde

The Selkirk Red River Métis Local has seen a change in its leadership team after their March 29 election. A new executive team of Chair Jesse Vogen, Vice Chair Brad Hirst, Secretary Dyana Lavallee, and Treasurer Kyra De La Ronde will be taking over as the local leadership team.

“I was overwhelmed by the support that the Citizens of the Selkirk Local showed at the election, and I’m extremely proud that the results were in my favour. I presented a platform that they accepted, and I will do my best to follow through with support of our Executive,” said Vogen about his reaction to his success.

He says that he personally felt that he wanted to run as he felt now was a great time for some change.

“I was speaking with citizens from our Local, and they were ready for change, and with the team we put forward, we are ready to take on our roles and responsibilities,” he said.

As for this change, there are handover details that are still in process, but once that process and the official handover have been completed, Vogen says they will move forward with their plans.

“As an Executive, we will take direction from the  citizens and consult with them on how we move forward in a positive way,” said Vogen.

Vogen also wanted to share a message of thanks for the support for him and his team.

“Thank you very much to all the citizens of the Selkirk Local. We felt the support in the room, and the results showed it. We’re excited for the next four years,” he said.

In addition to Vogen, the team put out a statement and message of thanks to their citizens on the Selkirk Red River Métis Local’s Facebook page, saying, “We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the outgoing Executive for their dedication and contributions to the Selkirk Local. Your work is appreciated and respected. This is just the beginning, we’re excited for what’s ahead!”
