Lundar RCMP investigate homicide at Lake Manitoba First Nation

RCMP are investigating a homicide after a 23-year-old man was found dead in a wooded area at Lake Manitoba First Nation on April 30.

Lundar RCMP received a report at 12:23 p.m. of a missing 23-year-old male from the community. Just over an hour later, at 1:34 p.m., police received information suggesting the man may have suffered life-threatening injuries and his whereabouts remained unknown.

First Nation safety officers, along with officers from the Lundar detachment, RCMP Police Dog Services and a drone operator, were dispatched to the community to assist in the search.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., officers located the missing man deceased in a wooded area.

Police have confirmed the death is being treated as a homicide, with Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services now leading the investigation.

A 23-year-old male from the community has been arrested and remains in custody.

The investigation is ongoing.
