Evergreen Festival of the Arts recognizes performance excellence at 2026 show

Date:

Students in the Evergreen School Division were singled out for their performance excellence last week during the annual Evergreen Festival of the Arts’ Hi-Lites concert.

The festival was held over the course of April and had over 240 entries across six disciplines consisting of vocal/choir, piano, instrumental, dance, speech and Orff (music, movement, speech and drama).

Professional adjudicators are hired to grade and provide feedback to students. The Hi-Lites show features the top-performing students.

As a non-profit organization, EFA relies on local sponsors such as the Evergreen School Division and the Kiwanis Club of Gimli, as well as venue sponsors and organizations and individuals in order to hold the annual arts festival.

“Our festival is a non-profit organization run solely with the donations we receive from our sponsors, scholarship funds and registration fees. Their kind, generous donations provide support for our awards, scholarships, adjudicators, venues, programming and transportation. We truly could not do this without you,” said EFA president Krystal Isfeld, who’s also the assistant principal and music and literacy specialist at Gimli’s Sigurbjorg Stefansson Early School.

Heather Clarke, who’s a member of the EFA board thanked festival volunteers for stepping up again to make this year’s event possible.

“We are extremely thankful for the opportunity the festival provides our students; the collaboration, musicianship, theory, musical literacy, creativity and performance,” said Clarke.

EFA’s Hi-Lites show on May 4 at Gimli High School showcased students chosen for their precision, excellence and artistry. After the performances, students were presented with awards or scholarships from organizations and individuals across the Evergreen region.
