Selkirk RCMP respond to fatal residential fire

Date:

The Selkirk RCMP responded to a residential fire on Clandeboye Ave. in Selkirk on June 20 at 10:15 p.m.

First responders from police, fire and EMS realized that a female resident was inside the building, and the fire department made entry into the structure, which, at the time, was still in flames with heavy smoke.

They found the woman unresponsive and attempted to resuscitate her. She was brought to the hospital and was declared dead soon after.

RCMP report that at this time the fire appears to be accidental, though they and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
