Despite the rain, the annual Fraserwood Hall Parade and Picnic drew residents together on June 28 for a day of community fun and fundraising.
Residents lined the streets of Fraserwood on June 28 to watch the annual Fraserwood Hall Parade despite the rainy weather, with colourful floats, local organizations and community groups entertaining spectators
Organized by Tanya Mishtak, the event began with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Access Credit Union and prepared by members of the Fraserwood Fire Hall.
Following breakfast, residents lined the streets with umbrellas and ponchos to watch the parade, while others took shelter under the open trunks of their vehicles. Parade entries included the Fraserwood Fire Hall, My Baba and Gido Restaurant and Bar, Evergreen School Division, local farms, Interlake Off Road Club Corp. and many members of Winnipeg’s Khartum Shriners. MP James Bezan and representatives from the RM of Armstrong also took part.
After the parade, activities moved indoors to Fraserwood Hall. Adults enjoyed canteen fare and browsed a silent auction featuring homemade pies and gift baskets filled with children’s toys, while children took part in face painting, bouncy castles, crafts and games. J&J Store and Armstrong Ltd. also provided free slushies and ice cream.
Despite the wet weather, the community once again came together to celebrate, enjoy the festivities and raise funds for the Fraserwood Fire Hall.
