Cardio drumming a hit for Carman recreation

Date:

Cardio drumming is a new fitness trend that will get you both smashing drum sticks against a workout ball, along with potentially losing a little of your midsection. With each strike, there’s precision, and with precision, there’s music.

Carman first started having Cardio drumming classes in the fall of 2023 and is now into its second session. Both sessions have been very popular, with 18 ladies registered each time.

Cardio drumming runs on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Carman Community Hall with instructor Carrie Hennan from Roland at the helm.

“Carrie is a great instructor and does this in her spare time because she enjoys doing it herself,” said Sheena Nakonechny, the Town of Carman’s recreation programmer.

Regular participation in cardio drumming can improve cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, increase strength and endurance, strengthen the immune system, and improve coordination.

It helps improve motor skills and hand-eye coordination and can provide relief for certain health conditions. Moreover, cardio drumming can be an alternative to traditional gym workouts.

The classes have already started for the second session of cardio drumming in Carman, but if anyone wants to join halfway through, they can still register by calling the Town of Carman recreation office at 204-745-2684.
