Inclusion Selkirk looking for golfers to tee up on Aug. 22

Grab your golf clubs and polo shirts and get ready for Inclusion Selkirk’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament.

Sign yourself up with three other team members for an afternoon of golf in support of Inclusion Selkirk. 

Inclusion Selkirk’s Golf Tournament is on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club.

Inclusion Selkirk provides supports to adults living with intellectual disabilities.

They assist with supportive living, day programs, respite and more.

Inclusion Selkirk also provides general support to family members.

Maria Freeman, Executive Director at Inclusion Selkirk is looking forward to this year’s golf tournament.

She explained that the funds raised help cover programming costs that are not including in general funding.

“This year in specific, we are fundraising for our new building on Eveline.” said Freeman.

Inclusion Selkirk is building a new programming centre called the Gaynor Family Inclusive Centre The new centre is going to include multiuse apartments for their people supported to use.

Past tournaments have raised around $10,000 each. Freeman is hoping to exceed that amount this year.

Inclusion Selkirk is looking for golfers of all ages and abilities to join them in August.

“We have golfers that golf all the time and ones that only golf for the tournament,” explained Freeman.

Registration is $600 per team, or $150 per golfer. Registration includes a game of golf, motorized cart, a gift bag and dinner.

Players can expect an action-packed afternoon of golf.

There will be special activities such as games and free samples from different event sponsors at the holes.

Inclusion Selkirk will also offer a yummy snack to participants at registration.

“There will be a variety of things that will happen on the course to make it exciting for everyone!” Freeman exclaimed.

Inclusion Selkirk’s Golf Tournament happens rain or shine so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.

Team registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start for players at noon.

A silent auction, team prizes and fun games will also be available throughout the course of the afternoon.

After your game of golf, join Inclusion Selkirk at Selkirk Golf and Country Club’s restaurant.

A good meal will be served and special golf awards and prize winners will be announced.

There is room for 36 teams at this year’s event, team registration closes mid-August.

“In September we have our Bud Spud and Steak event and in May we have our social.” explained Freeman.
