RCMP looking into a deadly accident with off-road vehicle

The RCMP continue to investigate a fatal off-road vehicle accident that happened last week. 

Fisher Branch RCMP were informed of two-vehicle collision involving an SUV and an ATV that occurred on Provincial Road 224, located in Peguis First Nation on July 18 at 12:30 a.m.

Officers have determined that an ATV, being driven by a 48-year-old male from Peguis First Nation, was heading southbound in the northbound lane when it collided head-on with a northbound SUV, being driven by a 24-year-old female also from Peguis First Nation.

The 48-year-old was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The 24-year-old female driver, along with four other female passengers, were not physically injured.

The 24-year-old female driver was arrested at the scene on charges of Impaired Driving.  She was transported back to the Fisher Branch RCMP Detachment where she provided samples of her breathe for analysis.

The 24-year-old remains in police custody.

Fisher Branch RCMP continue to investigate.
