Carman Arena gets new dressing room benches

Date:

The Carman Dufferin Arena has new dressing room benches upstairs, thanks in part to the Carman Men’s Rec Hockey League, O’Brien Built Ltd., and Royal Bank Carman.

For a few years, the Men’s Rec Hockey League members in Carman have been mentioning that they would like the benches in the dressing rooms upgraded to make them more comfortable.

“The league has accumulated a surplus of money over the years, and we thought that it would be a great use of those funds to put them towards making the benches wider and more comfortable,” said Wesley Labossiere of the Carman Men’s Rec Hockey League.

The league’s treasurer, Brent Tournier, obtained a $1,500 grant from Royal Bank (RBC) in Carman for the project. Then, a long-standing member of the league, Troy O’Brien, who owns a local construction company, O’Brien Built, offered to donate to the project as well.

O’Brien Built performed the work in August to ensure the benches were complete before hockey camps started, and the benches in all four upstairs dressing rooms have all been upgraded.

“The Men’s Rec Hockey League has been running in Carman for over 20 years and have spent a lot of time in those rooms,” said Labossiere, “so it’s great that our members, as well as everyone else using the facility, can be more comfortable in the dressing rooms.”
