Unique bandanas for your four-legged fashionista

Date:

Get your dogs, cats, or bunnies ready to rock on with a stylish new bandana. Rock On Bandanas offers reversible bandanas in multiple colours and patterns for animals of all sizes.

Tamara Walld is a young entrepreneur of Woodlands who started her business, Rock On Bandanas, in 2021 in honour of her Jack Russell dog, Rockie.

“I used to call him my Rock, so that is where the name came from,” explained Walld.

Rockie used to love wearing bandanas and would refuse to leave the house without wearing one.

“If he didn’t have a bandana on, he was sad. He absolutely loved it,” Walld added.

Rockie and Walld were best friends for nearly 17 years until his passing. Today, Walld has four other doggy pals to keep her busy at home.

After Rockie passed away, Walld got a new puppy. Baldur, a pitbull, was introduced to Walld’s world, and when he first arrived, he could fit Rockie’s old bandanas. But, he and her other ‘boys’ grew out of them and needed something new.

It was then that Walld had the idea to try making some bandanas of her own. So, she called her Mom and asked her if she could use her sewing machine to make Baldur some bandanas.

“She put all the stuff together so nicely and she helped me figure out my stitches and all the ways to make the bandanas work,” Walld explained.

Walld always looks back on her time with her Mom as she passed away in 2023.

“I am actually still sewing on her machine. She was my biggest fan.”

Rock On Bandanas is unique as all of the bandanas are reversible, washable and have a safety release snap.

“If they (your pet) are playing, it will come right off if they get caught,” said Walld.

Rock On Bandanas has also recently started offering bath wraps for dogs and scrunchies for humans.

The bath wraps are convenient for your furry friend after a bath so they can stay warm and dry. Walld added that the bath wraps also feature safety release snaps.

“The wraps have the snaps so it is a fast on and off. You are not going to be fighting with them after a bath. I do it for convenience,” she said.

Rock On Bandanas can be found at local craft shows, including Teulon’s Pumpkinfest Farmers Market on Sept. 21. Walld will sell her bandanas alongside KDS Designs, a custom paracord pet gear company.

“I love helping dogs and their owners find their favourite colour or pattern. People love to match with their dogs,” explained Walld.

Rock On Bandana’s is also experimenting with adding a name or saying to the bandanas or a t-shirt with vinyl.

“I am currently learning how to make pet-themed clothing for the pet owners,” she added.

If you have a furry friend who would look great in a custom bandana, be sure to visit Walld at the Teulon Pumpkinfest.

Walld also encourages her customers to share photos of their fashionistas with their new bandanas to add to her client picture album.
