Friesens supports AAFRC

Date:

Friesens Corporation’s employee-owners made a $2,740 donation to the Altona and Area Family Resource Centre recently by way of the company’s employee directed giving program. Friesens’ Marisa Gayon did the honours (at left), presenting the cheque to AAFRC’s Nina Edbom-Kehler and one of the centre’s participating families in support of the agency’s free early childhood education programming in Altona, Rosenfeld, and Gretna.  “We support families who have children under five, and it’s important to know it’s not daycare,” said Edbom-Kehler, “All of our programming is parent-and-child—parents, grandparents or other caregivers come with the child and are with them the whole time. You’ll always see adults and children learning and playing together.” Edbom-Kehler noted support from Friesens helps AAFRC focus resources where they matter most. “This donation will go into the kitty and help us support people,” she said. “I love funds that aren’t restricted, because we have enough toys and markers. Having someone greet you, acknowledge you, smile at you and welcome you—that’s huge. This gift helps us keep that kind of support in place for families.”
