Smile Cookies raise $15K for Altona Soccer

Date:

The numbers are in and they are fine indeed: the Altona Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised a whopping $15,500 for the community’s soccer park project. Restaurant staff presented the proceeds to reps from Altona Soccer on Friday. “We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community and the many local businesses in Altona who supported this project in such a meaningful and tangible way,” said Altona Soccer chair Karl Enns. “Thank you, Altona. And a special thank-you to Tim Hortons for their ongoing community involvement and support.” The funds are a welcome boost to “The Beautiful Project”—Altona’s $750,000 campaign to build multiple new soccer pitches and renew existing ones as the sport’s popularity continues to grow in the community. Organizers have already raised about a third of what they need, and plans are to begin work on phase one of the project this summer.
