Young readers are invited to celebrate Canada while keeping their reading skills sharp this summer through Boyne Regional Library’s annual Summer Reading Program.

Boyne Regional Library’s “Oh, Canada!” Summer Reading Program encourages children to explore Canadian stories while keeping their reading skills sharp throughout the summer
Registration opens July 2 and continues until Aug. 20 for children entering Kindergarten through Grade 12.
Participants will receive 10 ballots upon registering, giving them the opportunity to enter one of 10 grand prize draws. Each week, children can earn an additional ballot by returning to the library to answer an incentive challenge question. Participants can earn up to 18 ballots in total. The grand prize draw will take place Aug. 21, with 10 winners selected.
This year’s theme, “Oh, Canada!,” celebrates the country’s people, places and stories. Throughout the summer, children are encouraged to discover Canada through books while learning fun facts displayed throughout the library. Prize baskets will also reflect the theme, featuring Canadian authors, Canadian treats and other Canada-inspired items.
The Summer Reading Program is designed to help school-aged children maintain their reading skills over the summer months, encourage reading for enjoyment, introduce families to the resources available through the public library, welcome new residents and patrons, and strengthen the library’s role within the community.
Registration is free for anyone with a Boyne Regional Library card. Residents of the Town of Carman and the RM of Dufferin are eligible for a free library card. The library also offers free summer memberships to residents of the RM of Grey, allowing them to borrow library materials and participate in the Summer Reading Program. Residents of other municipalities are encouraged to check with their RM, as some municipalities may reimburse library membership fees.
Boyne Regional Library thanks Access Credit Union for its continued support as the program’s grand prize sponsor. The library also acknowledges generous prize donations from The Blue Crescent Hotel, Tim Hortons, Syl’s Drive In, Peace Lily Therapeutics, Evensong Shoppe, Jolie Dawydiuk, Carman Home Hardware, The Prices Rite, Toews Printing and Office Supply, Greenland Equipment Ltd., Carman Pharmacy and Whitehots.
