Carman Collegiate celebrated its student-athletes June 9 with its annual athletic awards ceremony, capping off a year of impressive achievements and school spirit.
The evening highlighted a standout season for the Cougars, including a Zone 4 girls soccer championship—the school’s first in 25 years—and a silver medal finish at the AA Hockey Manitoba High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) provincials, which Carman Collegiate also hosted.
Throughout the year, student-athletes represented the school at six different MHSAA provincial championships, bringing pride and success to the Carman community.
“Honouring high school athletes in this way recognizes their hard work and dedication,” said school secretary Kyla Orchard. “It celebrates our culture of excellence and highlights positive role models.”
Carman Collegiate’s extracurricular programs are entirely volunteer-driven, with coaches and staff generously giving their time to support students. Coaches not only led their teams but also selected recipients for the Coach’s Award and MVP honours.
Top award recipients included:
Varsity Athletes of the Year: Megan Gross and Nate Phillips
Junior Varsity Athletes of the Year: Presley Wolfe and Linden Findlay
Coach’s Award: Brayden Cox and Zander Cox
Scholastic Athlete of the Year: Ava Nykoliation
Awards were also presented to student-athletes for academic achievement and provincial-level participation.
