The Carman Food Pantry recently received a cheque for $10,000 from Farm Credit Canada (FCC), which I used to purchase two large fridges.
The new fridges will enable the pantry to keep and store perishable food between its distribution days that they would not otherwise be able to accept.
The Carman Food Pantry exists to make healthy food accessible to all in our community and to address hunger, primarily by providing food to those in need. Presently, the monthly food pantry in Carman serves about 200 households in Carman and the rural municipalities of Dufferin, Roland, Grey and Thompson.
“We are very grateful for Harvest Manitoba and the generous contributors and donors in our community,” said Evelyn Rempel Petkau of the Carman Food Pantry.
The Carman Food Pantry relies heavily on volunteers and is very grateful for each one. Anyone interested in volunteering or donating can visit the Carman Wellness Connections website and click on the Carman and Area Food Pantry link.
