Lehmann receives prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal

Date:

Carman’s Lisa Lehmann was presented with the King Charles III Coronation Medal at the Manitoba Legislative Building on Dec. 10.

Last year, the Portage-Lisgar riding was allocated 20 Coronation Medals in honour of King Charles III’s coronation. This is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.

The medal, designed by the Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg, is being presented to 30,000 individuals of all ages across Canada this month who have made a difference in their communities through volunteering or community service.

Lehmann, who is the Coordinator for Carman Wellness Connections (CWC), was deeply honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal.

“I accept it not just for myself, but on behalf of the members of the Carman Wellness Connections Inc. and the entire community we serve,” said Lehmann.

Lehmann has been involved with CWC since the beginning, as she was part of a community roundtable discussion in 2019, where they first looked at the impacts of poverty in Carman. With a background in community, community outreach, and social services, Lehmann’s big passion is creating meaningful connections and fostering partnerships that lead to sustainable change.

The Coronation Medal reflects the collective dedication and passion of all those who work tirelessly to ensure all community members have the opportunity to live their best life.

“It honours the commitment of everyone involved in our shared mission to reduce poverty, create meaningful opportunities, and be there for others, especially on their hardest days,” said Lehmann. “We strive to provide support and compassion, helping individuals navigate challenges while working toward lasting, positive change in our community.”

Lehmann noted that the evening itself was a wonderful experience, during which she received the medal from the Province’s Premier, Wab Kinew.

“It was truly inspiring to hear about the achievements and challenges that other recipients have overcome. Premier Wab Kinew, who spoke from the heart, is an incredible leader for Manitoba. His words were both motivating and uplifting, encouraging all Manitobans to strive to be their best selves and look out for one another. It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful event and to share in the spirit of community and resilience.”
