New Henry Winkler movie filming in Starbuck

Date:

A couple of famous movie stars will be in Starbuck to film part of the movie Normal, which has been in Manitoba communities including Winnipeg Beach and Selkirk. Shooting is expected to continue into December.

Henry Winkler, who needs no introduction, stars in this new film, which Bob Odenkirk is directing from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul

Lena Headey from Game of Thrones lore is also on the cast.

This is the third film that Odenkirk has directed to be shot in the Winnipeg area over the past few years. Locals have noted on social media that the movie team is always very generous financially in each community they film in, such as helping the local food banks.

Movie star Henry Winkler has taken to Twitter/X to show his love for Winnipeg and Manitoba in general since he’s been in town. Notably, the Fonz checked out the Winnipeg Art Gallery and tweeted that he enjoyed dinner one night at the high-end downtown restaurant Deer and Almond.

The movie Normal is focused on a bank robbery in a fictional town called Normal, Minnesota. Winkler plays the mayor of the community. Headey plays the local bartender, while Odenkirk is the town’s substitute sheriff.

Over the past few weeks, many of Starbuck’s storefronts have a new look, with the Normal name on the front signage. Filming has been taking place and is expected to continue in town until the end of the month.

On Nov. 21 and 22, Main Street in Starbuck will be closed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic will be rerouted from the Main Street barricade to Railway Avenue and to Ash Street from the South. If you are coming from the north, they will reroute traffic from the Main Street barricade to Macdonald Street to Ash Street.
