Sabers fall by one on road in WHSHL action

The Sanford Sabers were back on the road the following night, dropping a 4–3 decision at Churchill on Friday, Jan. 9.

Sanford’s offence again came from Rodewald, who scored twice, including a powerplay goal in the second period and an even-strength marker midway through the third. Dyson Dilk added the Sabers’ other goal on the power play, finishing a play set up by Rodewald and Max Nabess.

Through 14 games, Sanford sits eighth in the Winnipeg High School Hockey League Winnipeg Free Press Division with a 6–8 record.

The Sabers return to action Thursday, Jan. 15, when they host Springfield at 4 p.m., before heading back on the road to face the St. James Jr. Raiders on Friday, Jan. 16, at 3:50 p.m.

Sabers return to action in playoff hunt

The Sanford Sabers return to action this week following a break in their schedule and sit firmly in the MWHSHL Division West playoff picture.

Sanford enters the week fourth in the Division West standings with an 11–5 record, having not played since late last week.

The Sabers are set for a two-game stretch beginning Tuesday, Jan. 13, when they host the Warren Wildcats for a 3:30 p.m. puck drop. Sanford then hits the road Wednesday, Jan. 14, travelling to face Sturgeon Heights at 4:10 p.m.
