The Arborg Ice Dawgs couldn’t recover from a second-period barrage and fell 6–2 to the Beausejour Comets in Capital Region Junior Hockey League action Friday at Arborg & District Arena.
Beausejour broke the game open with four goals in the middle frame, including three on the power play, to build a 5–0 lead through 40 minutes. Arborg’s special teams pushed back late — Troye Genaille and Tavyn Sigurdson struck on third-period power plays at 17:13 and 13:43 — but the Comets’ Evan Groening answered to put it out of reach.

Comets forward Lavery Melsted scored twice (both PPG) and Greyson Wood and Laughlin Cuthbert added first- and second-period markers. Liam Johnston also scored for Beausejour, who finished 3-for-9 with the man advantage.
Arborg went 2-for-10 on the power play. Goaltender Zavery Wahoski faced 52 shots and made 46 saves in the loss, while Beausejour’s Alex Cavanagh stopped 24 of 26.

The game turned chippy in the third, with multiple fights and misconducts whistled on both sides and well over 200 minutes assessed overall. Despite the parade to the box, the Ice Dawgs generated a 13–12 shots edge in the final period and found a bit of life on special teams before time ran out.
The loss drops Arborg to 0-7-0-2-0, holding seventh place in the CRJHL standings. The Ice Dawgs are in the midst of a six-game homestand and will look to rebound this weekend.
