School is in session for Lakeshore School Division

Date:

Students and staff in the Lakeshore School Division are back in class for the 2025-26 school year.

Excitement filled the halls in Eriksdale, where principal Sage Tozeland said the school is emphasizing its EAGLES acronym — Empathetic, Authentic, Gritty, Leaders, Encouraging and Safe.

“We hope to focus on and build these qualities in our staff and students,” Tozeland said.

Eriksdale School is also rolling out a few changes this year. Classes now begin at 8:55 a.m., and a grant from Access Credit Union is helping fund a new middle-years play structure. Tozeland said fundraising will continue throughout the year, with construction expected next year.

The school’s Hockey Academy has expanded to include students in grades 5 to 7 and will continue operating out of Lundar Arena.

Staff and students kicked off the year with a back-to-school barbecue and meet-the-teacher night on Sept. 12, part of the school’s September theme: “We are all Eriksdale Eagles.”

“Our big goals are to create a place where everyone feels like they belong so we can learn and grow together, and to help students learn to the best of their abilities,” Tozeland said.
