Tria Products Ltd. building a solid reputation and igniting potential

Date:

A family-owned concrete company located west of Arborg is building a solid reputation across the Interlake, several Canadian provinces and parts of the U.S. with the completion of landmark projects and more on the way.

Tria Products Ltd. started out as Broad Valley Redi-Mix in 2004 and changed its name to Tria in January 2022 after it amalgamated three separate companies, Concrete Batching Systems, Custom Precast Concrete, and Onsite and Offsite Redi-Mix Concrete.

Tria means three in Latin. The name was chosen to reflect the amalgamation and the company’s core belief in the Trinity. The company’s values are guided by the golden rule of treating others as they would want to be treated, and it has led to repeat business from satisfied customers.

Tria’s management team is made up of Joe, Jordan and Dwayne Wipf. From humble beginnings, they’ve grown the company through hard work, dedication, forward-thinking, innovation and a reputation for reliability. They focus on medium to large-scale construction projects, which includes concept and building design, project and construction management and the use of multi-skilled teams.

“We are proud of the work our company has done over the last two decades, and I am proud of our employees and the work they do for us. A big thanks goes out to them,” said CEO Joe Wipf. “We have a great product and it takes a big team or, as I see it, a family to do what we do here at Tria. I am so thankful to everyone who has got us to where we are today.”

Wipf said the company is diversifying with the future launch of an innovative line of parts, which will assist clients who buy their batch plants.

“We are not just introducing products – we are igniting potential. Each part we roll out is a testament to our commitment to excellence and our unwavering support for our clients,” said Wipf. “But this is more than just a product launch. It’s an opportunity for growth, not only for us as owners of the company but for each one within our organization. We believe in nurturing talent and empowering our employees to reach new heights.”

Tria recently earned a Certificate of Recognition (COR), a safety standard that demonstrates a company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and reducing the risk of workplace incidents and injuries. The company underwent an external audit by a certification body.

Not only does COR enhance the overall operational efficiency of a company, but it also gives a company credibility. Once COR is achieved, a company continues to evaluate and update its safety practices.

To earn the COR designation, Tria developed a safety-management system tailored to its operations, including policies, procedures and practices to identify and mitigate workplace hazards. It also entailed training its employees to ensure they’re informed and aware of safety practices.

“To prepare for the certification audit, we performed thorough internal audits to evaluate our safety practices and identify areas for improvement,” said Jordan Wipf in an Oct. 9 news release on Tria’s website.

In addition to construction projects in Manitoba, Tria has worked in Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and in North and South Dakota in the U.S. Its clients come from a wide range of sectors including retail, hospitality, health care, industrial, commercial, residential and government. Clients include the City of Winnipeg, northern Manitoba communities, rural municipalities, Hutterite colonies and Sigfusson Northern.

Tria’s major projects include an 88,200-square-foot warehouse (concrete panel installation) in Winnipeg’s St. Boniface neighbourhood, a 27,000-square-foot warehouse (design, installation of precast concrete wall panels and steel roof trusses) in north Winnipeg, and the Rocke Event Center (concrete panel installation) in Headingley.

The company is currently working on the North End Water Pollution Control Centre upgrade in Winnipeg, Jette Studios, a multi-million-dollar movie studio being built in Niverville, which involves the construction of a 25,000 square foot studio, including a sound stage and 360-degree LED wall, and Hush Acoustics in Stonewall.

The company employs a diverse range of occupations including accountants, drivers, foam cutters, mechanics, logistics, carpenters, ironworkers, administrators, sales and marketing specialist, IT, communications, engineers, business consultants, project managers, computer-aided design specialist, plasma cutters, concrete finishers, precast laborers, painters, human resources staff and a safety officer.  It offers its employees opportunities for advancement, benefits including as health insurance and time to unwind and build camaraderie through staff outings and dinners.

“Everyday I wake up and look forward to heading into the office and working with a great team of dedicated folks,” said Tria’s sales and marketing specialist Aaron Janzen-Plett. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen such hard-working people in my life. The environment is a so welcoming and I truly am thankful to work here.”

In addition to taking care of its clients and staff, the company gives back to the community through donations. Beneficiaries include the communities of Lundar, Fisher Branch, Arborg and Riverton, Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre, Children International (humanitarian charity combating poverty) and Heart Team (Manitoba-based emergency aquatic response charity).
