Trevor Rempel, Steel Creek’s vice president of sales & marketing, said the company, the ownership group and new staff were excited to throw open the doors. The hotel is expected to drive economic development in the area and benefit area businesses.
“It’s a big step to complete the vision of this group of local business owners and residents who recognized the need and opportunity to bring new, modern hotel room inventory to the community,” said Rempel. “A new hotel retains visitor spending within the surrounding areas among many different businesses, not just the hotel itself. It allows for community organizations to leverage this to enhance their own events and it shows growth and development confidence in the community to attract more new businesses.”

The hotel has eight different suite layouts and features to maximize guest convenience. They include a split-room design that provides separated bedroom areas that allow more privacy for families or groups, a two-bedroom executive suite with a kitchenette, and large family-oriented rooms with two sets of bunkbeds. The rooms have fridges, microwaves and coffee-makers and televisions and are pet-friendly.
Rempel said the hotel will give people an opportunity to enjoy a staycation, hold conference events, accommodate sports teams and enjoy other events such as weddings or birthday parties.
Steel Creek Developers is a family-owned hotel development company that has built Blue Crescent hotels in other parts of the province, including Carman. It has also built a Tim Hortons in Altona and mixed-use buildings such as rental apartments and hotel suites in Melita and Souris, Man., and Grenfell, Sask.
Bifrost-Riverton reeve Brian Johnson, who helped cut the ribbon, said the municipality is extremely pleased to welcome the new hotel, which has already booked reservations.

“On behalf of council for the Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton, we would like to thank the investors, Steel Creek Developers and all those who had a part in contributing to this wonderful investment to the area. This beautiful build will showcase what we have in the Interlake, bringing economic development and increasing tourism in the municipality,” said the reeve. “Reservations have been booked for hockey tournaments, tour groups and weddings. We are excited that Blue Crescent is up and running. A welcome addition to the area.”

Interlake-Gimli MLA Derek Johnson said the opening of the Blue Crescent in Arborg is a tremendous milestone not only for Arborg, but also for the Interlake region.
“This project fills a vital need for accommodations, boosts local tourism and strengthens economic opportunities across the area. Congratulations to the Town of Arborg, its residents, and the Blue Crescent Hotels’ team for their hard work and vision in bringing this project to fruition,” said Johnson, who also helped cut the ribbon. “It’s a shining example of how community collaboration and tools like the Small Business Venture Capital Tax Credit can drive meaningful progress. Plus, who wouldn’t appreciate an indoor waterslide to escape the cold Manitoba winters?”
