Boyne Book It Fun Run supports Wellness Connections

Date:

The 5th annual Boyne Book It Fun Run took place in Carman on Saturday, May 25th. This 5th year was definitely the most interesting with the extreme weather. Carman received 3” of rain on Friday that made some areas of the course challenging.  Race organizers were busy during the Friday storm making alternative race routes to bypass underwater sections. Thankfully, the rain had subsided by race time on Saturday, although the temperature remained cold and windy.

The event sold out early at a capacity of 200 with runners and walkers taking on a 2K, 5K, or 10K option.  Participants ranged from ages 1-78.  The race committee prides themselves in providing an event for all ages. Proceeds from this year’s event will be going to the Carman Wellness Connections organization that works to address poverty and promote wellness in the Carman and surrounding communities.

The event could not be put on without the over 60 volunteers who come together Friday and Saturday to help with race set up, course marshalling, first aid, cooking pancakes, and race take down. Many comments from participants after the race were so grateful to see many faces cheering them on and ensuring their safety on the course. The volunteers are the heart of this event.

Organizers expressed their immense gratitude to the sponsors who made this event possible:

Gold: North Valley Precision Planting, Syl’s, Greenland Equipment, Gallery Dental, Gardiner Naturopathic Wellness Centre.

Silver: Homestead Co-op, Access Credit Union, Sperling Industries Ltd., Agassiz Seed Farm Ltd.
