Are you on the scout for some evening entertainment? If you are looking for a fun and entertaining way to fill your evening, join Interlake Players with their live performance of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change on Sept. 27 and 28
Interlake Players is a small performing group that first got together in 2016 over their passion for acting.
Mitch Obach, a member of Interlake Players, explained that the group used to tour their shows through different Manitoba communities.
“We would tour different places in the Interlake. We have been to Gimli, Ashern, Selkirk, Teulon, Stonewall and more,” said Obach.
Interlake Players began performing “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” in 2019 but had to take a break due to the pandemic.
“This is our first time back on stage in five years,” added Obach.
He explained that the group was unsure when they would hit the stage next, but in the spring of 2024 they all felt the urge to perform again.
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a musical featuring five actors who portray 60 different characters who develop through life. The musical is also the second-longest-running off-Broadway show, originally debuting in the 1990s90’s.
“It is a very funny and crowd-pleasing show,” Obach explained.
“You see intimacy, to first dates, to marriage, to kids, to family life, to in-laws, to old age. It shows the life and relationship journey by taking a funny look at it.”
Obach started acting in high school and now plays around 15 different characters in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.
Obach will be joined on stage by his wife, Kendra Obach, and his lifelong friends, Lily Reder, Lindsey Weber and Chris Arms with Paula Kiwill accompanying them on the piano.
The Obach duo resides in Selkirk, and their fellow castmates are from the Interlake. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is featuring a ton of home-grown talent.
Interlake Players debuted their 2024 performance of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at A-Spire Theatre in Gimli at the end of August, and it was a thrilling success.

“We had such an awesome response in Gimli,” said Obach.
Interlake Players will perform two performances of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Selkirk United Church on 202 McLean Ave.
The performances are on Sept. 27 and 28, with showtime beginning at 7 p.m., and will serve as fundraisers for different community groups in Selkirk.
“We try and partner with community groups who might want to make a few bucks,” explained Obach.
The Selkirk Community Choir is one of the organizations raising funds by selling tickets for the musical. “[The choir] always has ongoing costs of buying music, equipment, rental space, etc. We try to keep fees down for singers in whatever ways we can,” said Selkirk Community Choir Director Kendra Obach.
Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased by contacting Kendra Obach at (204) 513 0433 or by emailing klobach@gmail.com. Obach encourages you to buy your tickets in advance, as a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door.
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is suited for viewers 14 and older due to its mature content. Obach noted that a cash bar will also be available for their performance at the Selkirk United Church.
If you are interested in fundraising or acting with Interlake Players, Mitch invites you to contact Kendra.
