Poppy fund donation enhancing resident care

Date:

The spirit of giving and community support shines brightly in Stonewall, thanks to the generous efforts of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #52.

Last Wednesday, President Ken Power made a heartfelt visit to Rosewood Lodge, where he witnessed firsthand how invaluable a recent donation has become for both staff and residents.

The Legion recently donated $5,000 which was used to purchase 15 full body sit-on slings and three bath slings.

IERHA manager of health services Margarete Moulden said the slings will have a positive impact on patient care as well as staff.

“We are exceedingly grateful for the Legion’s support. These slings allow us to safely care for the residents, as well as keep our staff safe in their workplace. They reduce injuries and improve the quality of life.”

The slings can be used to provide options for transfers for seated or lying positions, as well as bed repositioning.

The donation came from the Legion’s Poppy Fund, which is supported by the public for the two weeks leading up to Remembrance Day.

According to Power, the Poppy Fund serves the necessities of Veterans and their dependents as well as approved services in the community. This includes donations to Rosewood Lodge for medical services.

This act not only honours our Veterans but also enhances the quality of life for those residing at Rosewood Lodge.
