Prairie Rose School Division welcomes new Superintendent/CEO

Date:

The Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) recently announced that Kevin Clace will be the new Superintendent/CEO, effective Aug. 1.

Clace, who holds a Ph. D in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota, joins PRSD from the University of Winnipeg where he has been Dean of Collegiate since 2018. He originally began his teaching career at the early and middle years levels in Rosenort Elementary and Winkler Elementary, so he is very familiar with teaching in southern Manitoba.

Following that, he held principalship roles in Red River Valley School Division at Morris School, Rosenort School, and Lowe Farm Elementary before being named PRSD’s newest Superintendent.

“As an educational leader, I have had the privilege of a number of opportunities to support teachers, students, and parents across Winnipeg and Southern Manitoba,” said Clace.

“What captivated me the most was Prairie Rose School Division’s unwavering dedication to excellence and innovation in education. The School Division’s values and educational pillars closely mirror my own educational philosophy, and I am looking forward to collaborating with PRSD’s dedicated educators, administrators, and community members to further enhance student learning experiences.”

Clace’s commitment to educational leadership is evident in his impressive involvement in many committees and organizations, including, most recently, business and economics, awareness and safety, recruitment, and student information systems for the University of Winnipeg. Clace was a senate member of the University of Winnipeg Senate, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the RRVSD Principals’ Association, and Vice President of the RRVSD Teachers’ Association.

The PRSD press release on Clace’s hiring notes shows that he brings many strengths to the school division, including fiscal management, staff development, student services, innovative problem-solving, and educational planning.

“As an educational leader, I believe in utilizing my passion, innovation, and vision to empower and equip effective professional teams,” said Clace. “My approach to educational leadership is rooted in collaboration and empowerment, with a focus on enhancing the capacity of school staff to effectively address the diverse learning needs of every student.”

In joining the PRSD as Superintendent, Clace is dedicated to an environment of excellence, advocates for mental wellness, fosters a communicative and team-focused approach and goes above and beyond to help those in need. He is committed to student success, which is at the forefront of his decision-making; he builds positive relationships with staff, students, and parents and deals with issues promptly and professionally with the best interests of students and staff in mind.

“Joining the PRSD team, I am eager to contribute to the educational initiatives outlined in the school division’s pillars, which emphasize High-Quality Learning, Well-Being and Belonging, Excellence in Teaching and Leadership, and Communication and Collaboration. These pillars resonate with my values and aspirations, and I am committed to working alongside dedicated colleagues to advance these educational goals.”

In addition, Clace is a dynamic leader with the passion, innovation, and vision to build effective and professional divisional teams. His leadership style is one of collaboration and empowerment, focused on building capacity and equipping school staff to meet the learning needs of all students.

When asked what he and PRSD staff can do to ensure that students continue to succeed within their PRSD schools, Clace says, “To nurture dynamic learning environments where students thrive, I believe it is essential to foster collaborative partnerships among school administrators, teachers, parents, students, the school board, community members and external educational stakeholders. As Superintendent/CEO, I am dedicated to pioneering and supporting innovative educational programs through collaborative and creative approaches.”
