Support a local organization and get a chance to win tickets to somewhere warm this winter
Inclusion Selkirk recently announced their intent to create a new multi-use space for themselves and our community on Eveline St. in Selkirk. They will have to do a great deal of fundraising to get this project off the ground and one way residents can support their efforts is to enter their upcoming the Gift of Flight draw.
This draw is made possible by WestJet which sponsors non-profits like Inclusion so that they can host contests like this.
“It’s always been in the back of [our minds to apply again.] I’ve actually applied to them previously for our golf tournament. When I put in the application for our new building, they loved the idea of the phase two development,” said Merilee Mollard of Inclusion Selkirk.
The multi-use space is phase two of their Eveline St. development plans. It’s going to bring all of their services under one roof as well as have spaces available for the community to use and enjoy.
This contest isn’t just a great way to give, however, but also a great opportunity to win a prize many people will find enjoyable this time of year, two plane tickets to the destination of your choice.
“We go to the Cayman Islands in the wintertime. There are some blackout dates that you can’t fly on. [But] you’re given those blackout dates, and you just schedule your flights around that. But that’s an example of where we’d want to go because WestJet now flies to Cayman,” said Mollard.
Tickets are $10 each and they can be found throughout our community. A great place to make a stop this time of year is Inclusion Selkirk’s retail space WishMe which, in addition to selling the tickets, has a selection of artisan made products that would fit well in a stocking or under a tree.
Mollard recommends that residents get their tickets quickly because there is a limited quantity available.
“It’s a perfect stocking stuffer,” she said.
The final draw takes place on January 19, 2024.
“We printed 2000 tickets. If you think about it in terms of, a lot of people buying lottery tickets, I like the chances of winning one out of 2000 versus one out of however many thousands [of lottery tickets],” said Mollard.
