Sculpture burning sparks smiles at waterfront

Date:

One of the most momentous parts of Holiday Alley is the straw sculpture creation and burning extravaganza that is Fire on the Red.

This year, it was double the fun with two structures created for the occasion.

This is the third year that this event has taken place, and while Fire on the Red has always been ephemeral art, this year, there was a bit of showmanship on display, as one of the pieces opened up when set ablaze, blooming like a flower as it burned.

This was a truly creative addition to the show and an innovative way to build on the art that came before.
