Selkirk RCMP investigate break-in, 13 firearms stolen

Selkirk RCMP are investigating a break-in and theft at a home along Highway 44 in the RM of St. Clements where several firearms were stolen.

Police say officers responded to the report on March 8 at approximately 1:10 p.m. The break-in is believed to have occurred sometime in the previous 48 hours while the homeowners were away.

Various household and personal items were taken from the residence, including snowmobile gear and tools. Police said a gun safe inside the home had been left unlocked and 13 long guns were stolen.

The stolen firearms include two Remington .270 pump-action shotguns, three 12-gauge pump-action shotguns, one 20-gauge pump-action shotgun, three .22 bolt-action rifles, two .22 semi-automatic rifles and one .50-calibre muzzleloader.

Ammunition was also taken from another area of the home.

Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate and are working to identify a suspect or suspects.
