Selkirk RCMP respond to house fire and make arrest

On Feb. 22, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Selkirk RCMP, Selkirk Fire Department and Emergency Personnel responded to a report of a house fire on McLean Avenue in Selkirk.

The home was fully engulfed.

The homeowner was outside the residence and not physically injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution. The only occupants inside the residence at the time of the blaze were the owner’s two dogs and three cats.

Through their initial investigation, RCMP discovered the owner had intentionally set the fire.

They were arrested and charged by the RCMP.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner and Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate.
