Dancing, fashion and fun are all coming to the Comp
The Parents For Safe Grad Committee works hard every year to host an event for our graduates so that they can safely celebrate their achievements. To do this, they have to fundraise to make the fun happen. This year, the Comp is continuing its annual tradition of hosting a Grad Fashion Show, and anyone from the community who would like to support the 2026 graduates is welcome to grab a ticket and attend.

“It is open to the entire community to come and support the graduating class. We have lots of past graduates who come back to help (and in addition to the fashion models), we have students who are doing lights and music and some stage help,” said Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School Teacher Ashleigh Gusberti.
The way the fashion show works is a little unconventional. Instead of having a runway that the students walk, groups of students perform dance numbers showing off their fashionable clothing in motion so that attendees can see the clothes from all angles.
The first annual grad fashion show started in 1996, and this is the third fashion show since the school took a few years off during the pandemic.
A production like this can’t happen without community support, and the fashion show has many businesses that help them.
“All our grad dresses are lent to us from Christie’s in Steinbach. They’ve lent us over 50 dresses. And the fun is, the girls all go out to Steinbach and do the fittings. And, it’s just kind of a fun time for each group,” said Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School Teacher Brandie Lev.
In addition to the graduation dresses, there will be suits as well as more casual clothes on show. Warehouse One, 204, Packers Fashion, Moores Clothing for Men on Regent Ave. in Winnipeg, Tip Top Tailors in Polo Park Mall in Winnipeg and Hippy Trail Beach Co. in Grand Beach are also supporting.
“(Attendees) are going to see a lot of current fashion, but maybe more important, they’re gonna see a lot of excited students modelling and making memories together,” said Gusberti.
She explained that her favourite part of the Annual Fashion Show is not just supporting the grads but having the grads make the most out of their last year in high school.
“(My favourite part is) the memory making for the students. Because we’re such a large school, a lot of them don’t know each other that well until an event like this happens, and they all have to work together. It’s seeing 80 students work as a team to produce something really amazing and incredible for the whole community and for themselves,” said Gusberti.
The students are also enjoying the experience.
“It’s just a fun time with the boys practicing here at the school on the weekends. Just a good time overall,” said student Cadence Chorney.
“It’s just creating one last memory with people that you’ve been going to school with your whole life,” said student Kyle Cromie.
“It also gives you an excuse to hang out with people that you might not normally hang out with outside of school,” said student Kennedy Korell.
If you would like to get a ticket and support our 2026 grads, there are a few ways to get one.
“Tickets are available on Eventbrite. They can also get tickets by coming to the school in person,” said Lev.
The shows take place on May 7, and the link to online tickets is www.eventbrite.ca/2026-lsrcss-grad-fashion-show-600-tickets for the 6 p.m. show or check out the 7:30 p.m. show at www.eventbrite.ca/e/2026-lsrcss-grad-fashion-show-730-tickets. You can also scan the QR codes pictured.
Gusberti hopes to see residents come out to support the grads.
“It’s bringing back past graduates. It’s celebrating current graduates. We have tons of community support in terms of clothing being provided, so it just ends up being a really nice reconnection activity,” she said.
