Local entrepreneur brings engraving to Small Business Spotlight Oct. 19

If you are looking to buy your friends and family a unique holiday gift, Stonewall’s 15th annual Small Business Spotlight is happening from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Stonewall Legion with 45 unique businesses open to satisfy your shopping needs.

Tanya Swanson and Kerrie Holm organized the first Small Business Spotlight in 2009 to showcase the local talent that Stonewall has to offer.

“We wanted to give local vendors a platform to reach more people, while also creating a space where the community could gather, connect, and support local businesses. Over the years, it’s grown welcoming all small businesses into a cherished tradition, and we’re so proud of how it continues to bring people together,” said Swanson.

Each year, the Small Business Spotlight helps more than local vendors. Swanson and Holm’s collect a one-dollar admission fee and organize a 50/50 draw in support of local organizations.

“This year we are excited to annoice that the front door donations will go toward the Stonewall Christmas Chessboard,” explained Swanson.

She also added that with your admission, you will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $50 voucher to spend at one of the vendors.

“Our 50/50 draw will benefit the ’Save the Kilns’ project. The Kilns are an important part of our local history and culture,” said Swanson.

In honour of the 15th Small Business Spotlight, Swanson and Holm’s are welcoming back several fan-favourite vendors, along with several new ones to their event.

Ashlee Nordstrom will be setting up her small business, All Was Well Custom Creations at the Legion for the Small Business Spotlight.

Nordstrom is a small business owner from Stonewall and does custom engraving, sublimation and vinyl transfers on many objects to provide them with an extra pop of creativity.

The local maker has always admired adding her own flair to everyday objects, and it was her customers that introduced her to engraving.

“I kept being asked by customers if I did engraving, so I finally decided to jump on it!”

At Saturday’s event, you can visit Nordstrom to see her engrave her jewellery pieces live on site.

She will be bringing a small portable laser that is just the right size to engrave her stainless-steel jewellery.

“I have a variety of pendants and designs that people are able to choose from,” she said.

You can choose from one of All Was Well Custom Creation’s several pre-selected designs, or you are able to place a custom order with Nordstrom if you are envisioning another engraving design.

From jewellery to drinkware, or fashion accessories to trophies, All Was Well Custom Creation’s is here to customize many goods to make them unique to you. Just make sure to leave your items at home, as Nordstrom only engraves products that she has personally sourced.
