Balmoral celebrates success of sold-out fundraiser

Date:

Balmoral’s Flight Night fundraiser was a high-flying success.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, the Balmoral Community Hall hosted the sold-out fundraising event, which raised funds towards the ongoing operation and continuous improvement of the facility.

Attendees enjoyed craft beers by Good Neighbour Brewing and Kilter Brewing company, as well as a warm snack by Lavender Farms.

Live music by the band Heartsleeve kept the crowd entertained.

“The event was a tremendous success, having easily sold all of the 170 tickets available. More importantly, all in attendance clearly enjoyed the evening of craft beer and live music. On that subject Heartsleeve performed beautifully and were joined by artist Lori Benn of Teulon, who equally impressed the crowd,” said Doug Carter, who serves on the hall board with his wife Lisa.

“Fortunately, we did make a profit — although a more important outcome was the visibility the event brought to the hall, as well as the community-building it provided. The event was attended by long-term residents of the area, newer additions to the community, as well as young people who grew up in and around Balmoral.”

Funds raised during the evening will help facilitate the renovation of the front entryway, a project that has been necessary for some time, Lisa added.

“From the perspective of the organizers, we would have to say that our favourite part of the evening was seeing the positive reaction of the crowd, which was both visible and endlessly stated to us throughout the evening,” she said.

“We do not currently have a fundraiser on the calendar, but based on feedback from attendees, we will very likely make this an annual event.”

On behalf of the board, Doug expressed gratitude for everyone involved in creating such a memorable event.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank both Kilter Brewing and Good Neighbour Brewing, each of whom not only provided excellent craft beer but supported us throughout the process including the donation of door prizes,” he said.

“In addition, we need to again thank Gareth McNichol-Briggs and his band Heartsleeve and special guest Lori Benn for putting on a truly great show. Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone who enthusiastically attended as well as those who were unable to attend but made a donation in lieu.”
