GAAC dancers shine at year-end recital

Date:

Dancers at the Green Acres Art Centre (GAAC) wrapped up their season on April 21 with a year-end recital.

Three classes, ranging in age from five to teens, took to the stage in costume, performing for an enthusiastic crowd.

GAAC dance instructor Jill Demianiw said the evening was “beautiful,” with an engaged audience and a calm, welcoming atmosphere.

The classes have been rehearsing since September and also performed earlier this season at the Rockwood Festival of Arts. Demianiw said programs like these give young dancers a chance to express themselves creatively in a supportive, social environment close to home in Teulon.

“I began my dance career here, and my Nanny, Ann Killbery — who passed away earlier this year — brought me to the art centre to learn ceramics, calligraphy, pointillism, watercolour and more,” she said. “I treasure those memories at GAAC with her.”

While the regular dance season has ended, more opportunities are ahead, including an eight-week spring session and a summer camp. For more information, visit the Green Acres Art Centre (@gaacteulon) on Facebook.
