Nominate a business for new chamber awards

Date:

Local businesses will shine in the spotlight thanks to a new awards program launched by the Stonewall and District Chamber of Commerce.

Robert Price-Lewis, president of the Stonewall and District Chamber of Commerce, said this new initiative is a meaningful way to support and promote the local business community. Nominations are open to businesses located in Stonewall, Stony Mountain, Rosser, Warren, Woodlands, Argyle, Balmoral, Grosse Isle, Marquette and Gunton.

“Our local businesses are the backbone of the community. They create jobs, support local causes and provide the services and products we all rely on,” he said.

“Recognizing their efforts helps boost morale, encourages continued excellence and reinforces the strong connection between businesses and the people they serve. Acknowledging their achievements publicly reminds everyone of the value they bring to Stonewall and the surrounding districts.”

The awards will focus on eight categories: customer service, community spirit, new business of the year, community volunteer, employer of the year, farm of the year, first impression and business of the year.

“These awards were created as a way to shine a spotlight on the hardworking businesses in our area and give their customers — the people who know them best — a chance to recognize them,” Price-Lewis said.

“It’s a celebration of the dedication, innovation and service that make our local businesses so important to our community.”

Anyone can submit a nomination through the chamber’s website at stonewallchamber.com or scan the QR code that’s included in promotional materials. Paper forms are also available at key locations including the offices for the Stonewall Teulon Tribune, the Town of Stonewall and the RMs of Rockwood, Woodlands and Rosser.

“Nominations are open from now until July 15. The process is designed to be simple and community-driven. Nominations are open to everyone, and businesses do not need to be chamber members to be nominated,” Price-Lewis said.

“Nominations are anonymous, and all it takes is identifying the business, selecting one of the eight award categories and briefly explaining why they deserve to win.”

A selection committee will then review all eligible nominations and evaluate them based on the strength and sincerity of the submissions.

“Community members have the unique insight that only comes from lived experience — whether it’s the contractor who goes above and beyond, the server who already knows your order before you’ve even sat down or the business owner who consistently supports local fundraisers,” he said.

“By sharing their nominations, community members become part of the celebration and have a direct hand in uplifting the businesses they believe in. It’s also a great way to say thank you in a lasting and meaningful way.”

Looking ahead, the Stonewall and District Chamber of Commerce will host a celebratory awards night on Oct. 25 at Quarry Park Heritage Arts Centre.

“We’re planning a fun and elegant evening that will bring the business community together in a celebratory atmosphere. The event will include an awards ceremony, entertainment and opportunities for networking in a more relaxed, social setting,” Price-Lewis said.

“It’s not just about the awards — it’s about coming together to celebrate success, build relationships and have a great time. More details on the date, venue and tickets will be shared through our website and social media channels once the nomination process has been completed. Again, nominations close on July 15.”

Price-Lewis encourages everyone to get involved — whether it’s by submitting a nomination, attending the event or simply helping to spread the word.

“This is a community initiative, and the more voices we hear from, the more meaningful the awards become,” he said.

“And for those businesses who aren’t yet chamber members, we’d love for you to see what we’re all about and consider joining our growing network. Together, we’re stronger.”
