Mark your calendars and invite your friends and family to come visit the Oak Hammock Air Park on Aug. 24. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Oak Hammock Flying Club will host a re-opening barbeque and feature various fun activities for all ages.
Oak Hammock Flying Club President Ed Gulay is excited to host the barbeque as this is the first major event for the park in five years.
“We have had no activity here since COVID,” explained Gulay.
Oak Hammock Flying Club was formed ten years ago to unite aviation fans local to the area.

For $10, you can get a hot off-the-grill hotdog or hamburger, a cool beverage, a side of coleslaw and a salty treat such as potato chips or pretzels.
There will also be various free activities for families to enjoy on Saturday afternoon.
Members from the Winnipeg Aviation Club and Harv’s Air Service will have information booths set up. Come out and ask one of the aviation experts any questions about earning a pilot’s license.
Planes will also be flying in and out throughout the uifun day. You can sit back and watch the skies as planes land and take off.
A STARS helicopter will be onsite at the Oak Hammock Air Park. “People can walk around and see what the helicopter looks like,” explained Gulay.
He noted that the availability of aircraft and helicopters on display will depend on current flying conditions and availability.
“There will be plenty of stuff for kids.”
With lots of games, toys, prizes, and more, the Oak Hammock Air Park Fun Day will certainly thrill the youngsters.
The Oak Hammock Air Park will also be hosting a silent auction draw featuring local prizes.
“It’s been said that we have the most amount of prizes for a little fly in airport,” exclaimed Gulay.
Everyone has a chance to win a prize at Oak Hammock Air Park’s Fun Day.
If you are ready to have some fun with the Oak Hammock Air Park, Gulay recommends bringing a lawn chair so you can stay a while.
The Oak Hammock Air Park Fun Day and BBQ is free for everyone to attend. If inclement weather occurs, the BBQ will be postponed until the following day, Aug. 25.
Oak Hammock Air Park is located at 1023 Fort Garry Rd, next to the Oak Hammock Marsh Discovery Centre.
