Rosser council news in brief

Date:

• Council approved a $700 one-time grant to the South Interlake Regional Library for the purchase of five digital multi-use radon detectors for public use.

• Rosser council accepted a planning consultant proposal from CVLNS for consulting services at a cost of $18,560 plus tax.

• Council is authorized to attend the Manitoba Planning Conference in Brandon from March 5 to 7, and expenses will be paid.

• Council is authorized to attend the CentrePort Canada executive partnership breakfast on March 11, and expenses will be paid.

• Council is authorized to attend the Lilyfield Quarry community consultation meeting via Zoom on March 11, and expenses will be paid.

• The reeve and CAO are authorized to accept an invitation from CentrePort Canada Rail Park for them and a guest to attend the Sons and Daughters of Italy 3rd Annual Gala in Winnipeg on March 14 as part of the CentrePort Canada Rail Park’s sponsorship of the gala. Expenses will be paid.

• Council is also authorized to attend the Red River Basin Commission Manitoba North Chapter fish dinner gala in West St. Paul on March 19, and expenses will be paid. The RM will also donate $200 in Keg gift cards and $200 in grocery gift cards.

• The CAO is authorized to attend the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators conference in Mont Tremblant, Que., from May 26 to 28. In addition, council and the CAO are authorized to attend the Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference in Ottawa from May 29 to June 1. Expenses will be paid for both. 

• The RM issued an aggregate mining licence and an aggregate transportation licence to Lilyfield Quarry up to Dec. 31, 2025. 

• Rosser council would like to continue to have an integrity commissioner for council members to be able to individually consult with about conflicts of interest and other matters. They will continue to retain Sherri Walsh for integrity commissioner services. She previously worked with Hill Sokalski Walsh LLP and now her current firm is Tapper Cuddy LLP.

• The RM of Rosser will apply for a funding opportunity from the provincial government for climate resilience planning for the Grassmere Watershed.
