Thanks to Selkirk Golf & Country Club, golfers in the Selkirk area will be able to practice their swing a little earlier this season.
In December, the club located at 100 Sutherland Ave announced its plans to build golf simulators inside the clubhouse.
On Friday, the club followed through with a grand opening of the Sim Hut, which is now open to all ages of members and non-members.
The Sim Hut includes two bays complete with industry-leading Foresight Technology, which allows golfers to virtually play golf courses from around the world and continue to work on their golf game during the lengthy winter golfing offseason.
“It will be a nice addition for not only the golf course but also the Selkirk and greater Selkirk community, and we’ll be getting a nice draw from outside Selkirk as well,” said Mike Frost who is the communications manager at SGCC and has been promoting the opening of the Sim Hut on the club’s socials.
For the Sim Hut, each bay will allow up to four golfers at a time. Players can play local matches, skins, best ball, and many other modes Foresight Technology offers.
Foresight Technology also offers driving ranges and target practices for golfers looking to fine-tune their game.
The Sim Hut will be open seven days a week, and the bays will cost between $35 and $45 per hour, depending on the time of day. Large group booking options are also available. They will also be offering a limited food menu for golfers.
“It’s kind of expanding on what we’re able to provide to the Selkirk community,” said Frost. “Now we’re a year-round facility with golf simulators, and the restaurant is open during the same hours, and we’re still going to be hosting group functions in the restaurant, or if they want to host the clubhouse and rent out the simulators at the same time, they can. At the end of the day, it’s going to be a net benefit to not only the members of the golf course but also everybody in the Selkirk area. We had kids as old as five and six in the simulators in our open house last week so kids up to seniors in their 80s are going to be using this.”
The Sim Hut is just one of many exciting new additions to SGCC already in 2025. They also recently announced hiring CPGA Golf Professional Mike Dern, a pro inside and outside of Manitoba, most recently at St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg.
SGCC recently released an introductory video of Dern, in which he also hits a shot off the mats at the new Sim Hut.
That video can be found here www.youtube.com
