Gimli Art Club painted 225 faces at Gimli Ice Festival

Date:

Members of the Gimli Art Club were kept busy during the Gimli Ice Festival a few weeks ago, greeting visitors to the club and facilitating some creative endeavours that included a community mural and the always popular face painting.

“The Gimli Art Club had the largest number of volunteers ever to keep the kids happily painting a large mural. Twelve Artists, over the two days, transformed 225 faces with water-based face paint,” said club member Olive Hnatiuk. “So many happy people left our front door after their visit. At the end of each day our volunteers were also happy, but a bit exhausted.”

Face painting is a big attraction at the festival, attracting kids and adults alike.

Over the past 14 years, the festival has grown, attracting visitors from around the world.

“The visitor count was over 400 per day, with not only local area people coming, but also Winnipeggers and Europeans coming with them to see what we do in the winter,” said Hnatiuk.
