Community gathers for annual fire department open house

Date:

The Stonewall Rockwood Fire Department welcomed residents to its annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House on Sept. 27.

Guests were treated to pancakes, bacon and sausage prepared by volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team, while children tested their skills on an obstacle course that mimicked firefighter training techniques.

The department’s public education trailer gave families a chance to learn about fire safety and prevention in a hands-on way. Visitors also toured the fire hall, exploring emergency vehicles and life-saving equipment while chatting with local firefighters about their work in the community. Families, including the Stewarts (below), enjoyed breakfast and learned about fire safety alongside members of the department.
