Manitoba Supported Employment Network (MSEN) awarded the MSEN Best Practices in Employment Diversity Award 2023 to Stonewall Family Foods (Medium Business Award) on Nov. 1.
Family Foods has provided inclusive employment opportunities for 20 years. They currently have four employees, two part time and two full time.
Family Foods is an independently owned grocery store and has always been a great employer.
“Previous owner Dave Kalnuk was always great to work with and Crystal Snell has carried on with the same support,” said Cheryle Bacon of Connections to Employment with Inclusion Selkirk.
October is Disability Employment Awareness Month.
“It is time to bring awareness about disability inclusion in employment, business in our communities,” said Bacon.
Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) is an annual campaign that takes place each October to highlight the contributions and inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. DEAM provides the opportunity for employers, people with disabilities, and service providers to come together to promote removing barriers to employment and creating a more inclusive economy.
The (MSEN) was founded in 1992 and is a collective of organizations and professionals working together to build a Manitoba that welcomes and values the full inclusion of people with disabilities into the workforce. Connections to Employment supported.
